Mangart Saddle - Slovenia’s Highest Road! Slovenia

Join me for a spectacular adventure to the summit of Mangart Saddle, the highest paved road in Slovenia and one of the most scenic roads in Europe. From lush green valleys to towering peaks, Mangart Saddle is a big physical challenge, and a mountain that really helps to put things back in perspective and remind us exactly why the sport of cycling is so beautiful and rewarding.

Ironically this was my second attempt at exploring Slovenia, a country that’d I’d dreamt about for a vey long time. On my first visit I crashed on the first day and broke my collarbone, spending 5 days in the camper van whilst waiting for the surgeons to put things right again. Needless to say I wasn’t able to film the mountain on that occasion so had to trust the universe and be patient for the stars to align once again.

Exactly one year to the day after that accident I was back, this time with a plate holding my shoulder together, but nonetheless the excitement was even greater. Mangart was glorious and in a way I’m pleased I had to wait a little longer before bringing it to life for you all.

I truly hope that you enjoy this video and it gives the inspiration and some useful cycling tips to help you explore this climb and an unbelievably beautiful country.
