During a recent Col Collective trip to Nice to film some of the best climbs in the area I had the chance to hook up with Joe Dombrowski, now riding for EF Education First-Drapac powered by Cannondale. I actually first met Joe a couple of years ago during a team camp in Girona and it was quickly evident that he has a big love for the mountains, so I knew I wanted to find out more about the man from Virginia, USA.
In this interview we delve into Joe’s career so far, from riding mountain bikes at 14 years old to racing on the World Tour in just seven years, that’s an astonishingly quick trajectory. I was keen to get Joe’s take on the super dynamic 65 kilometres mountain stage in this year’s Tour de France, does he think that stages like this are the future? Where did his idea come from for a one hour uphill time-trial for climbers and (hypothetically) which would get his pick, a top 10 in the Giro or a stage win in the mountains? Decisions, decisions.
Thanks for watching. Ride safe all!
